About the Role

Leader Recruitment Group, a premier specialist in recruitment for children's residential care, is excited to partner with our client to recruit a dedicated and experienced Senior Residential Childcare Support Worker for a new 2-bed children's home opening in Keighley in July 2025. This is a remarkable opportunity to shape a nurturing, trauma-informed environment from the ground up, supporting two children aged 6-11 with social and emotional challenges due to past abuse, neglect, or exclusion. As a Senior Support Worker, you'll lead by example, mentoring staff and providing high-quality care to help children heal, grow, and prepare for foster care or family reunification. If you're passionate about championing children's potential and enjoy activities like arts, gaming, or swimming, this rewarding role offers a chance to make a lasting difference.
Key Responsibilities
  • Foster a safe, fun, and structured home environment that promotes confidence, mental health, and well-being for children.
  • Act as a mentor and role model, advocating for each child's rights, needs, and individuality while encouraging their involvement in care plans.
  • Lead and support a team of care workers, ensuring high standards of care aligned with the Registered Manager's vision and Ofsted regulations.
  • Engage children in diverse activities, from cooking to outings, to enrich their lives and build healthy relationships.
  • Supervise staff, conduct key working responsibilities, and contribute to policy development to maintain compliance and quality care.
  • Assess and record risks, promoting safeguarding and ensuring equal opportunities for all children.
  • Work flexibly, including shifts and 1-2 sleep-ins per week (8 sleep-ins per month add approx. £4,000 annually).
What We're Looking For
  • Essential: Experience working with vulnerable children, demonstrating resilience, empathy, and a commitment to their potential.
  • Essential: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to guide staff and build trusting relationships with children.
  • Ability to handle challenging behaviours with sensitivity and maintain professional standards.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging in activities like crafts, sports, or creative hobbies to enrich children's experiences.
  • Awareness of safeguarding issues and a proactive approach to advocating for children's rights.
  • Level 3 NVQ - Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
What's in It for You
  • Competitive salary of £30,100 - £31,600 per annum, plus approx. £4,000 for 8 sleep-ins per month.
  • 24 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing by 3 days after 5 years.
  • Thorough induction and ongoing training, fully funded to support career development.
  • Clear career progression opportunities within a values-driven organisation.
  • Regular supervision and performance reviews to foster your growth.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including:
    • Group Personal Pension Scheme.
    • Healthcare Cash Plan.
    • Life Insurance Cover.
    • Sickness pay.
    • Cycle to Work Scheme.
    • Free enhanced DBS check.
  • A supportive, inclusive workplace recognised as a Mindful Employer and Investors in People.
  • The opportunity to be a pivotal figure in a child's journey, helping them overcome trauma and thrive.
