Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Registered Manager in running the home, delivering high-quality care tailored to children with EBD.
  • Lead and mentor a small team, ensuring consistent support for residents' emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Contribute to care planning, helping young people achieve positive outcomes and greater independence.
  • Maintain compliance with Ofsted standards, safeguarding policies, and EBD-specific regulations.
  • Assist with rotas, budgets, and daily operations to keep the home running smoothly.
  • Build trusting relationships with children, acting as a positive role model for resilience and growth.
  • Liaise with families, schools, and external professionals to coordinate holistic care.
  • Participate in on-call duties and occasional sleep-ins to meet the home's 24/7 needs.
  • Drive improvements by bringing fresh ideas to enhance the therapeutic environment.
Candidate Requirements
  • Proven experience in a children's residential setting, with a focus on emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent); Level 5 Diploma in Leadership is a plus (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and Ofsted regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and motivate a team in a challenging yet rewarding environment.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations calmly and effectively.
  • Resilience and adaptability to manage complex behaviours with empathy and professionalism.
