Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Home
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
Salary: £32,000 - £34,200 per annum + additional sleep-in payments
Contract: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (including weekends and sleep-ins)
Requirements: NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare & Full UK Driving Licence

About the Role
Leader Recruitment Group is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a respected children's care provider for a Deputy Manager role in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional to step into a leadership role and help shape a nurturing, therapeutic environment for young people with emotional and behavioural needs.

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help lead a dedicated team in delivering high-quality, child-centred care that meets Ofsted standards and promotes positive outcomes for the young people in your care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in day-to-day operations and ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations

  • Lead, support, and develop a team of residential care workers

  • Oversee rotas, staff supervision, training, and development

  • Deliver high-quality, therapeutic care in line with the home's ethos and policies

  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with children and staff

  • Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing protocols are strictly followed

  • Assist in managing budgets and resources effectively

  • Take part in the on-call rota, shifts, weekends, and sleep-ins as required

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a children's residential setting

  • NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - essential

  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle

  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, children's home regulations, and Ofsted standards

  • Confident team leader with a hands-on approach

  • Ability to manage rotas, delegate effectively, and mentor staff

  • Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people
