Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Home
Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire
Salary: £32,000 - £34,200 per annum + additional sleep-in payments
Contract: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (including weekends and sleep-ins)
Requirements: NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare & Full UK Driving Licence
About the Role
Leader Recruitment Group is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a respected children's care provider for a Deputy Manager role in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced residential childcare professional to step into a leadership role and help shape a nurturing, therapeutic environment for young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help lead a dedicated team in delivering high-quality, child-centred care that meets Ofsted standards and promotes positive outcomes for the young people in your care.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Registered Manager in day-to-day operations and ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations
Lead, support, and develop a team of residential care workers
Oversee rotas, staff supervision, training, and development
Deliver high-quality, therapeutic care in line with the home's ethos and policies
Build and maintain trusting relationships with children and staff
Ensure safeguarding and wellbeing protocols are strictly followed
Assist in managing budgets and resources effectively
Take part in the on-call rota, shifts, weekends, and sleep-ins as required
What We're Looking For
Minimum 2 years' experience working in a children's residential setting
NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) - essential
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Strong understanding of safeguarding, children's home regulations, and Ofsted standards
Confident team leader with a hands-on approach
Ability to manage rotas, delegate effectively, and mentor staff
Passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people

Additional income from sleep-in duties (£3,000-£6,000 annually based on frequency)
